Welcome back to Wendy Wednesdays and AllySHIFT™. As part of our return, allow me to reintroduce you all to AllySHIFT™ and one of its main goals: To meet people where they are while supporting their journey to becoming bigger, better and bolder allies for self, others and the planet.
The SHIFT of AllySHIFT™ is that the context and advancement of the practice of our core principles and values will be more rigorous and intentional as an admitted matter of faith and belief systems. Most of us who choose to practice and worship publicly or in private believe that our objectives are grounded in love, justice and our humanity.
For example, I am a Christian and an evangelist for life, liberty and the pursuit of equity. It is my faith that has fueled much of my work, especially in the challenging and fearful times we find ourselves in today.
In such times, I find myself thinking back to the book of Esther, which reminds us that in the midst of unbelievable and threatening moments, we are called “for such a time as this”.
Furthermore this excerpt from Joshua DuBois, The President’s Devotional:
“Who knows? Perhaps we are right here, right now for a very particular reason. To
declare a bold word. To write a brave phrase. To take a new step. To tell a hard
truth. If it is not our time, fine. As Mordecai said in his preface, "God’s will still will
be done. But maybe, just maybe this is our time. Such a time as this.””
What I consider a calling is a willingness to be a catalyst for change, courage and leadership. “For such a time as this”… is a calling for allies to be bigger, better and bolder for not only ourselves, but for each other and for our planet.
As part of this calling, on November 8, 2025, we hosted AllySHIFT™ Episode 3 for the purpose of bringing people together to be a community and experience hope, connection and peace of mind. As a refresher, our Episodes are town hall style events that promote fellowship and education. Episode 3 focused on the importance of our faith and need for peace of mind regardless of uncertainty and fear.
Here is a brief look at our time together….
This time together was not only enlightening, but social, entertaining and delightful. Episode 3 encapsulated how AllySHIFT™ fosters and embraces the community, and where sharing our belief systems is appreciated and respected.
We started our day with a message from the pulpit that was more welcoming than religious. The powerful and purposeful workshop on “Connections” resulted in personal reflections in an environment of belonging and safety. Additionally, we presented the award-winning documentary, “BEYOND THEIR YEARS, The Incredible Legacies of Herb Carnegie and Buck O’Neil’. Look at the trailer…
“BTYs” is a wonderful sports story and historical perspective that should be seen and shared by all. The presentation and talk-back provided us with the opportunity for education and self-awareness on the impact of being marginalized as well as the game-changing actions of those who chose to be advocates and activists for empowerment and justice. This viewing, as always, resulted in expressions of joy and revelation!
Recently one of my devotional readings was titled, Solid Ground. My initial response to that was, we are quite the opposite. As I continued with my reading I landed on one of my favorite passages, “No eye has seen, no ear has heard, no mind has conceived what God has prepared for those who love HIM” 1 Corinthians 2: 9.
In the words of Rev Jackson, “keep hope alive”. AllySHIFT™ is committed to doing that in a variety of ways and platforms that we will feature as Wendy Wednesdays. Please join me on Wednesday, February 18 for the launch of our Wendy Wednesday Podcast and the announcement of a new and exciting initiative. Trust me, you are going to LOVE IT!
Take care and be well,
Wendy
