Juneteenth
Freedom Day!

On this Juneteenth (June 19th), we celebrate the emancipation of enslaved African Americans and reflect on the ongoing struggle for justice and equality. As Martin Luther King Jr. once famously said, "justice denied is justice delayed." His quote captures the delayed freedom experienced by an emancipated people.

Today, we also mourn the passing of baseball legend Willie Mays. An iconic Negro League member of the Birmingham Black Barons, Mays debuted in the MLB with the Giants and won Rookie of the Year in 1951. "THE GOAT" in all the ways that matter, Mays contributions to the sport and society are unmatched and will continue to inspire generations to come.

Blessed Juneteenth!

MLB Adds Negro League Stats to the Official Record

Major League Baseball has made a historic decision to include statistics from the Negro League in its official record. This move recognizes the immense talent and contributions of Black baseball players who were previously excluded the league due to segregation. The inclusion of these stats is a significant step towards acknowledging and honoring the legacy of these players.
